alternative

The Spacefast alternative for sending work to clients.

Spacefast is a well-made private home for AI-built sites. Stacktree is built for the client who opens one. Automattic's Spacefast keeps new spaces private, takes comments and counts visitors, and it is in research preview. Stacktree is open today, and it adds what client delivery needs: a passcode or email gate, a named link per person, who read it and for how long, sign-off, and a portal per client on your domain.

What is the best Spacefast alternative?

Stacktree, when the page is going to a client. Spacefast and Stacktree both keep AI-made pages private by default. Spacefast is a research preview aimed at sites and small apps; Stacktree is available now and built around the client: a passcode or email gate, named links, reading data per person, sign-off, and a client portal.

What Spacefast is

Spacefast is Automattic’s service for publishing what AI agents make. You publish from a chat in Claude or ChatGPT, with npx spacefast publish, from a GitHub repo, or by dropping a folder on drop.website, and the result is a space at a live link. New spaces are private by default: a bare URL grants nothing, and you choose between inviting people, a share link anyone holding it can use, or going public. Comments pin to a spot on the page and can be replied to and resolved. Built-in analytics count views, visitors and top pages. It runs small apps too, with a database, sign-in, uploads and email built in.

As of 8 October 2026 it is a research preview with a waitlist. The announced plans are Free at $0 (20 spaces and 20 custom domains, for personal, non-commercial projects), Go at $5 and Plus at $15 per team per month.

Where Spacefast is the better choice

  • Price and domains. Twenty custom domains on the free plan and unlimited on a $5 plan is far more than Stacktree gives at any price. If you host many sites, it is the cheaper home.
  • Apps, not only pages. A database, sign-in and uploads come built in. Stacktree hosts static pages and has no backend.
  • The Automattic ecosystem. If your agency already works through Automattic for Agencies, Spacefast arrives inside a program you know.

Where Stacktree is the better choice

  • It is open today. No waitlist, and every paid plan is for commercial work. The first page is free, with no card.
  • A lock the client can open without an account. A passcode on every plan, and from Solo a gate that admits only verified addresses at the client’s company. Spacefast’s page documents invites, share links and public, not a passcode or an email-domain check.
  • Who read it, by name. Give each person their own link and every open comes back with their name: “Read by Maya Cole · 24 min over 8 visits”. Your own previews are left out. Spacefast’s analytics count visitors and pages, not people.
  • Sign-off. The client approves the page itself, and the record stays with it.
  • A portal per client. A client space collects everything you have sent one client, newest first, behind one passcode at an address on your domain.
  • Where your client’s assistant can read it. Every page has a Markdown twin, and you can let a client review the page with their own AI, comments and all.

For agencies weighing Automattic for Agencies

Automattic’s agency program shows Spacefast client spaces alongside partner pricing and referral earnings, and it is a sensible fit for agencies that already build on WordPress.com and want somewhere to put AI-built sites. The question to ask is what your client does with the page. If they browse a site, Spacefast fits. If they read a proposal, an audit or a monthly report and you need to know they read it before the call, that is the job Stacktree is built for, on any client’s domain, with no program to join.

Pricing, side by side

Spacefast’s announced plans: Free $0 for non-commercial projects, Go $5 and Plus $15 per team per month. Stacktree: three free pages to try it with a real client, then Solo $19 (25 live pages, your own domain, a client space, passcodes and email gates), Studio $79 (unlimited pages, ten client spaces, reading time per person) and Firm $249. Spacefast will be cheaper for hosting. Stacktree charges for the client layer.

FAQ

Frequent questions

What is Spacefast? +
Spacefast is Automattic's publishing service for things AI agents make, in research preview with a waitlist as of October 2026. Each publish becomes a space at a live link, private by default, with invites, share links, pinned comments, built-in analytics and custom domains. It also runs small apps with a database and sign-in.
Is Spacefast free? +
Its announced Free plan is $0 for 20 spaces and 20 custom domains, for personal, non-commercial projects. Go is $5 and Plus $15 per team per month, with unlimited spaces and domains. The plans are listed as upcoming while the preview runs. Client work counts as commercial, so plan on Go or Plus for it.
Can I use Spacefast for client work today? +
Only if you have an invite: Spacefast is in research preview with a waitlist, and its free plan excludes commercial use. Stacktree is open now. Publish a client page free, then Solo at $19 a month keeps pages permanent with a passcode or email gate, your own domain, and a client space.
Does Spacefast have password protection? +
Its page describes three ways in: invite specific people, a share link that anyone holding it can use, or public. A passcode or an email-domain check is not documented. Stacktree offers a passcode on every plan, and from Solo a gate that admits only verified addresses at your client’s company.
Spacefast or Stacktree for an agency? +
Spacefast if you want a cheap, private home for many AI-built sites and small apps, and you are in Automattic’s agency program. Stacktree if each page goes to a named client: their own link, who opened it and how closely they read, comments and sign-off, and a portal per client on your domain.
Can I move a Spacefast site to Stacktree? +
A static page or site, yes: export the HTML and publish it with the dashboard, the API, or the connector in Claude or ChatGPT. Apps that use Spacefast’s database or sign-in do not move, because Stacktree hosts static pages. Point your domain at Stacktree from Solo up.
