Gemini built it. Now send it to the client.
Gemini's share link was made for showing a chat, not delivering work. It is public, it opens inside Gemini, it disappears when the chat does, and from a work account it is off until an admin allows it. Send the Canvas as a private page instead: a passcode if you want one, no account for the client, and on a paid plan a record of when they opened it.
No card. 3 free pages, each live for 7 days.
Paste the Canvas HTML and get a private link. Nothing to install.
How do you share a Gemini Canvas with a client privately?
Publish its HTML to a private host and send that link. Ask Gemini for the page as one self-contained HTML file, paste it into Stacktree, add a passcode or a company email check, and send the unguessable link. The client opens it in any browser with no Google account, and on a paid plan you see when they opened it.
What Gemini's own sharing does
Gemini gives you a share link for any chat, and the chat carries its Canvas with it. As of October 2026, per Google's help center and Workspace admin pages, these are the routes:
| Route | Who can open it | Client needs an account | Passcode, expiry, who opened it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Share link, personal account | Anyone with the link, on gemini.google.com only | No | No passcode. Lasts until you delete it or the chat leaves your Activity. No record of opens. |
| Share link, work account | Anyone with the link, once an admin turns on link sharing (off by default) | No | As above. Turning the setting off later does not remove links already shared. |
| Share through Google Drive, work account | People you add, if your organization allows sharing outside it | Yes, a Google sign-in | Drive's sharing controls |
| Export to Docs | Whoever you share the Doc with | Depends on the Doc's sharing | For a written Canvas only. An app or web page does not survive the trip. |
| Stacktree | Anyone you send it to | No | Passcode on every plan. Company email check, no expiry and who opened it from Solo. |
Two more details from Google's pages are worth knowing before a client gets the link. Anyone with the public link to a shared Canvas app can view and edit data associated with the app. And viewers of a shared chat can carry on the conversation themselves. The same rules for ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot are side by side on who can open what your AI made.
Why a work account cannot share by default
Since March 2026, Google Workspace admins can allow Gemini conversations to be shared by link, and the setting starts off. It lives in the Admin console under Generative AI, Gemini app, Sharing, and it can be turned on for the whole domain, one organizational unit or one group. If your Share button gives you nothing to copy, that is the reason, and asking IT is the fix if a public Gemini link is what you want.
The route that is on by default is sharing through Google Drive, which Google added in June 2026. It respects your organization's Drive policy, so it only reaches a client if sharing outside the company is allowed, and the client has to sign in with a Google account to open it. Many clients will, some will not, and a proposal that starts with a sign-in screen is a proposal that waits.
The send step, in five moves
- Get one HTML file. Ask Gemini: "Put this whole page in one self-contained
HTML file, with the CSS and JavaScript inline and no outside files." Copy it from the Canvas
and save it as
proposal.html, or keep it on the clipboard. - Publish it. Paste the HTML into the box above, or drop the file on the Stacktree dashboard. You get back an unguessable link that appears in no listing and no search index.
- Lock it. Add a passcode you tell the client, so a forwarded link alone opens nothing. Passcodes are on every plan. If several people at one company should read it, a paid plan can limit it to their email domain instead, and they get in with a one-time email check.
- Send the link. Paste it into the email you were already writing. The client opens a page in any browser, on a phone if that is where they are, with no Google account and nothing to install.
- See that it landed. On every plan the client can leave notes on the page itself, and from Solo the dashboard shows opens and when it was last read. After the call, publish the revised page over the same site and the link they already have shows the new version.
Why a private page beats a Gemini link for client work
- It stays up on purpose. A Gemini link goes when the chat goes, including through Activity auto-delete. On a paid plan, a page stays up until you take it down or the date you choose.
- It can be locked. A passcode or a company email check, so a forwarded link does not open for everyone.
- It is read-only. Nobody can continue your chat or edit your app's data from it.
- It opens anywhere. Any browser, any phone, with no Google sign-in and no app.
- It tells you something. On a paid plan, when it was opened and how far it was read, which is the thing you want to know before you chase.
- It looks like your work. On paid plans it carries no badge and can sit on your own domain, so the client reads it at your address rather than inside a chatbot.

The format-level version of this page is sharing an HTML file with a client. If the Canvas is a monthly report, send it as a link the client bookmarks once. And if you also work in Claude or ChatGPT, the same move is on sharing a Claude artifact and sharing a ChatGPT Site with a client.
