# A project proposal template with the plan on one page.

Scope cards, a timeline, an investment table that adds up. One click publishes it to your account as a private link. Fill it in, or hand it to your agent with the brief. Passcode it, send the link, and move the dates after the call without sending anything again.

## What is a project proposal template?

A project proposal template is the structure a studio fills in once a client wants the work and needs to see the plan: background, objectives, scope, approach, timeline, investment, team and next step. This one publishes as a private link with a passcode, and updates in place when the plan changes.

## What is in the template

  - Background. The client's situation in three or four sentences, so they can see you listened.
 - Objectives. Three at most, each one measurable, each one the client's rather than yours.
 - Scope, as cards. One card per workstream: what it covers, what it produces, roughly how long. Cards read faster than a list and are easier to remove when the budget moves.
 - Approach. How you work, in the order the client will experience it: discovery, design, build, launch, or whatever your version is.
 - Timeline. Phases with dates. Real dates, not "week 3", because the client is reading this against their calendar.
 - Investment. A table with a total, and a note on what is billed when.
 - Team. Who is on it, one line each.
 - Next step. What you need from them, by when, to hold the start date.

## How to use it

  - Publish it with the button. It lands in your account as a private page, nothing public.
 - Fill it in. Edit the HTML directly, or open your editor and ask Claude Code or Cursor to fill each section from your brief, or give the template and your notes to Claude or Cowork and ask for a first draft in this structure. Publish the result to the same link.
 - Check the numbers. The investment table has to add up and the dates have to be possible. A model draft gets both wrong more often than it gets the prose wrong.
 - Send the link with a passcode, or limited to the client's email domain, and watch for the open.
 - Revise in place. The client asks for phase two to start later. Change the page. Their link shows the new plan.

## What the client sees

A page that opens on a phone, from a link that is not listed anywhere. No download, no login, no account. If you have set a passcode, they type it once. If you have limited it to their company, they confirm their work email once. Then the plan, and if you switch it on, a question box at the foot so they can ask the page what "discovery" covers instead of emailing you.

## When the plan is agreed

Turn it into a [statement of work](/templates/statement-of-work): the same scope, now with what is out as well as what is in, milestones tied to payments, assumptions, change control, and a sign-off block. File both under the client's [space](/client-spaces), so the proposal, the statement of work and every report that follows sit at one address behind one passcode.

## Which plan does this handoff need?

Filing work under a client is free on every plan. What a paid plan buys is time on
the clock and an address of your own.

FAQ

## Frequent questions

What is a project proposal template? + A project proposal template is the structure a studio or consultancy fills in when a client has decided they want the work done and needs to see the plan: the background as you understand it, the objectives, what is in scope, how you will approach it, the timeline, the investment, who is on it, and the next step. This one is a page you publish as a private link rather than a document you attach. What should a project proposal include? + Eight sections: background, objectives, scope (as cards, one per workstream), approach, timeline with phases and dates, investment with a table that adds up, the team with one line each, and the next step with a date. Keep assumptions and exclusions for the statement of work, which is the document that gets signed. How is a project proposal different from a business proposal? + A business proposal argues for the engagement: it is sent before the client has decided. A project proposal plans it: the client wants the work and needs scope, dates and price laid out so they can approve it. The statement of work then fixes what was agreed. The three often follow each other for the same client, and all three templates are here. How do I use this template? + Press Use this template and it publishes to your account as a private page. Edit the HTML and publish it back to the same link, ask your editor agent to fill the sections from your notes, or give the template and your brief to Claude or Cowork for a first draft. The link stays the same through every revision. How do I send a project proposal to a client? + As a link with a passcode, or limited to the client's company email. The page tells you when it was opened. When the client wants the timeline moved or a workstream dropped, update the page in place: they open the same link and see the new plan, and you have not sent version two of anything. Is the project proposal template free? + Yes. Three pages on the free plan, each live for seven days, passcodes included. Solo at $19 a month keeps pages up for good and lets the proposal live at your own domain.
