# Google Vids turns docs into videos. When to send something else. Google has added Docs to video to Google Vids: hand it a Doc, a PDF or a Word file and it writes a script, adds a synthetic voiceover and assembles a video summary. For a lot of internal work that is exactly right. For a report or proposal you send to a client, a few things matter more than they do inside the company. Here is what Vids does, where it fits, and when to send something else. A feature in Google Vids, announced on 2 September 2026, that turns a Google Doc, PDF or Word file into a narrated video summary. Vids writes the script, with each section of the document becoming a scene, lets you edit it and choose a voice, then generates the video. The feature "leverages AI to generate scripts and narration while providing custom visuals". The [help article](https://support.google.com/docs/answer/17302692?hl=en) gives the steps: in Vids, choose File, then Convert Docs, pick a .doc, .docx or .pdf, and review the generated script, "where each section becomes a scene". You can delete sections, rewrite the text, choose an AI voiceover and press Generate. Afterwards you can edit, share or export the video. The rollout: Rapid Release domains from 2 September, Scheduled Release from 5 September with up to 15 days for the feature to appear. Google lists Business Starter, Standard and Plus, Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus, Education Plus, and the Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscriptions. There is no admin control for it. It is early. Android Authority's [hands-on](https://www.androidauthority.com/google-vids-docs-to-video-3706624/) said Vids "managed to read my document and create a script, but it kept displaying an error when I asked it to generate the video". That is the sort of thing that settles down in a few weeks, and worth knowing if you plan to try it on a deadline. It sits next to NotebookLM's [Video Overviews](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/models-and-research/google-labs/notebooklm-video-overviews-studio-upgrades/), which make a narrated explainer from the sources in a notebook. Vids starts from one document and gives you an editable video project. ## Where Vids is the right tool Plenty of places. Onboarding a new starter from a long process doc. A training module your team will watch once. A summary of an all-hands memo for people who missed the meeting. A walkthrough of internal documentation. In each of these the audience is inside your Google Workspace, a narrated explainer is the format they expect, a synthetic voice is fine, and nobody minds that the visuals are generic. If your team already lives in Google Workspace, it costs nothing extra to try. ## When the reader is a client A monthly report or a proposal is different in four ways. - It has to look like your work. The client is judging your agency as much as the numbers. A video in a generic template with stock-style visuals and a synthetic voice reads as a tool's output, not yours. - A wrong number is worse than no video. Internal training survives a clumsy line. A client report that says revenue rose 18% when the page says 12% costs you trust you spent months building. Vids gives you the script to review and edit before export, so catching a wrong figure is part of that review. - The client should not need anything. No Google account, no sound on, no special app. A lot of reports get opened on a phone between meetings, often on mute. - The video should live where the work is. A separate video file is one more thing to send, name, version and find again. The client already has the page. You already send the report or proposal as a page. From the page's screen in the dashboard you ask for a video, and it comes back as about a minute of silent motion in the page's own design: the main point first, the few figures that matter, and what you are asking for last. Before you see the draft, Stacktree's check reads every line on screen against the page. A figure the page does not contain, or that the page contradicts, is flagged to you and left off screen unless you choose to keep it. You watch the draft, drop any line you do not want, and publish it when you are happy. Until then no reader sees anything. Once it is on, the video plays quietly from the corner of the page and opens full size with chapters taken from the page's sections. It sits behind the same passcode or email gate as the page. In the email to your client you put the poster picture and a link ending in `#watch`, which opens straight into the video. Is Google Vids Docs to video accurate? + Google's help article does not describe a separate accuracy check: you review and edit the generated script before you generate the video. That review is worth doing properly, especially for figures. Early hands-on reports were mixed on reliability: Android Authority found the script generated but the final video creation kept showing an error. Can I send a Google Vids video to a client? + Yes, by sharing the Vids file or exporting it, under your organisation's Google sharing settings. It arrives as a separate video, in Vids' own visual style with a synthetic voice. If the deliverable is a report or proposal you already send as a page, a video that lives on that page, in its design and behind its gate, may suit a client better. What is the difference between Vids and a Stacktree page video? + Vids narrates a document with a synthetic voice and assembled visuals, and the result is its own file.
